PTA stands for Parent Teacher Association. With your help, we support our teachers and staff as well as provide a variety of programs and events for our students and families.
No, but we would love to have you!
No, but again, we would love to have you! Our General Assembly meetings are held 4 times per year. At these meetings you will be kept up to date with PTA reports and learn more about upcoming activities. They are typically in the evenings and are fairly quick - usually 15-20 minutes. After the evening meetings, we usually host a family friendly event. Past after-meeting events have included an ice cream social, art show, chorus concert, magic show, science demonstration, and hands on activities.
No. At its most basic, a PTA membership is a simple way for you to monetarily support the school and our PTA programs. Nothing is required of you beyond your initial membership dues. However, if you would like to volunteer, joining the PTA is a great place to start! We have opportunities at all levels of participation. There is always a spot for you, and your level of involvement can be as much or as little as you like.
First, be sure that you have filled out a YES Form with the District. This form is required to be completed by all school volunteers.
Our Volunteer Coordinator sends out an email blast at the start of each month, listing the upcoming volunteer opportunities through PTA and links to sign up. This information is also posted on our Facebook and Instagram pages.
*Please note, these will not be opportunities in your child's classroom, but rather for our PTA events and programs. For information about volunteering in your student's class, please reach out to your child's teacher directly.
You will be notified of your child's teacher assignment in early August. Typically the teachers will reach out via phone call. Answer those calls from numbers you don't recognize - it could be your child's teacher calling to introduce themselves!
School supply lists are broken down by grade and can be found on the school's website- https://www.hillsboroughschools.org/bryant
Official Mary Bryant uniform items with the Mary Bryant logo can be purchased HERE. Solid tops and pants that are within our Uniform policy can be found at many area big-box stores as well as online. Student(s) are not required to have logo shirts (but they are a fundraiser for the PTA if you want to show your school spirit and support the PTA too).
Student hours are 7:40am-1:55pm. Mondays are early release days and students are dismissed an hour earlier at 12:55pm. Please note: if you need to check your child out of school early, this must be done at least one hour before the end of the school day (11:55am on Monday and 12:55pm Tuesday - Friday). The gates to campus open to students at 7:10am.
If you drive your child to school, you have two options for drop off.
1. You can park and walk your child up to the front gate on the left side of the main office. If you decide to do this, please do NOT park at Walgreens or the dentist office at the corner of Race Track and Nine Eagles.
2. You can utilize the carline in the parking directly behind the school. The gates for carline open at 7:10am. Once at the front of carline, Safety Patrols and staff will help your child out of the car.
If your child arrives at school after 7:40am, you will need to bring them to the office and sign them in
You will enter carline through the back gate to the parking lot directly behind the school. The gate for carline typically opens around 1:40pm (12:40pm on early release Mondays). At the start of the school year, you will be given a sign for your car. This sign MUST be displayed from your rearview mirror while in carline, as this will help the staff bring out your child accordingly. Safety Patrols and staff will be on hand to help students get in their car and to keep carline running smoothly.
Any early pickups must be done at least one hour before the end of the school day (11:55am on Monday and 12:55pm Tuesday-Friday). You will need to go to the office and sign your child out. Make sure you bring an ID.
Helping Ponies is a Bryant program that supports students and families we serve that may require some assistance during times of need (uniform assistance, school supplies, food, holiday gifts, or vouchers for Bryant activities such as the Holiday Gift shop, field trips, and the book fair). Identification of students and families are based on specific criteria including individual barriers, district indicators, teacher referral, and self-referral from the caretaker. Helping Ponies helps families stress a little less and give our students the kind of school experience they deserve!
AGP refers to our school's gifted program. More information about Gifted Student Education - including how to have your child evaluated - can be found at: https://www.hillsboroughschools.org/gifted
Battle of the Books is a reading incentive program for students in 3rd-5th grade. Each year books from the Sunshine State Young Reader Awards are chosen and students are encouraged to read a certain book each month (the PTA purchases these books, so they are available in the child's class as well as the Media Center). In May teams of 6 are chosen from each homeroom in 3rd-5th grade, these teams compete against each other by grade level, in a Cahoot quiz. The quiz questions are quotes taken from the books and the students are asked to match the quote to the correct book.
This contest for 4th and 5th graders is an opportunity for your child to learn writing, reading, and speaking skills outside the typical classroom instruction.
The Treehouse is a nickname given to our 5th grade hallway by our former principal Mrs. Oberschall. This hallway is accessed via a outdoor, covered walkway. When she first saw it Mrs. Oberschall commented that "it is like your own little treehouse over here" and the name has stuck.
